It's been nearly a month since I arrived here in Rovaniemi, I should have started earlier but things are crazy here ! I'm always busy and I didn't really find the time to write until now.
It's been two weeks and a half since I started class, and I met so many people from so many different cultures, everyday I meet new people and everyday I learn something new.
Bomb fire with the exchange students
My first week of class was the "Fine arts excursion in Lapland". For one week we traveled to the north of Finland, it's very different from Rovaniemi. Everyday we did activities such as hiking into national parks, setting up bomb fires and barbecuing food while sitting on reindeer rugs. Ever night we went into the Sauna and afterwards we jumped in the cold river while watching the northern lights. The experience was once in a life time.
Fine Art Excursion in Lapland
During that week, we didn't just go to the sauna and hike, we actually learnt something! We learnt a lot about lappish culture and the environment around us. It was interesting to embrace a completely different culture than what I am used to. We also practiced photography and environmental art as well as painting.
What a better way to start that semester ?
